Gemeente Toerisme Damme

Damme Book Town

Not surprisingly, precisely Damme profiles itself as a book village. In the 13th century, Jacob Van Maerlant, the famous southern Dutch poet, wrote his most important works here. Or what about writer Charles De Coster who set his geuzen novel about Tyl Owlglass in Damme? A themed book market takes place in Damme every second Sunday of the month. But also on other days, you can always visit the many picturesque bookshops to browse for that one literary gem.
