Low-lying land protected from the sea around 1200. The bumpy grasslands are bisected by the Romboutswerve vein and numerous drainage ditches, often bordered by soggy strips. In the winter period it is a chosen place for 'vriezeganzen' (fire goose, reed goose, grey goose). Typical meadow birds come here to breed.
